Bionic cockroach
The bionic cockroach is a biomimetic machine fashioned after its biological blueprint. It's internal machinery are based on nanotechnology but take advantage of the larger sizes of insects. An example use is as the Electromagnetic wave bug.

Its small size allows it to squeeze through gaps as low as 1 cm and as wide as 1.6 cm.
Communications and electronic countermeasure (ECM)[edit | edit source]
For the purpose of electronic countermeasure(ECM) the bug is equipped with numerous types of antennas. The covered range is 0.6 to 24GHz to 47GHz (4G, 5G).
- 2 "long" wire feeler monopole antennas (~6cm: 2.5 to 6GHz) that doubles as multi sensor for vibration, thermal, and sound wave pressure;
- They also serve as grounding wire or "lightning rod" if needed along with dedicated mini rods at the end of the body.
- reconfigurable compliant mechanism antenna (rCMA) (up to 10GHz)
- It is bounded by magnetic conducting walls which is a SMES superconductor, and two perfect electric conducting surfaces on the top and bottom.
- The SMES doubles for use as an electronic magnetic pulse (EMP) cannon's capacitor; the resistor is placed at the center of the antenna.
- The SMES also serves to soak up any opposition EMP charges before they can inflict any possible damage.
- A thin compact helical antenna is placed along the wall of the rCMA's SMES; functions as ECM transceiver and as EMP support.
- A set of 4 mini antennas (<5mm) are placed on the side along the body. These serve both for ECM and swarm communication.
- In addition, unique to the Abh, one side features a corner bent wideband phased array antenna (28 GHz) which serves for directional signal source locator. This is necessary as the other antennas are not suitable due to vertical arrangement.
Depending on the power of the transmission and the surrounding environment the effective range can be as far as 600m to as little as 10m. Likewise, the drain on the batteries may require a number of redundant units to cover an area at all times. As many as 185 units to as little as 2 might be needed for a single covered area. The preferred power level for 24h continuous operation is 0.013W with minimum efficiency of 80% the resulting transmission power would be limited to 0.0104W. The free range would be 86.5m; within dense urban environment the range would be 10.8m; when confined within a 2mm thick metal box the wifi range would be 77.7m while at lower bands the range would be 16.9m.

The bug possesses 2 main camera eyes and 4 auxiliary camera eyes. The photonic cameras require very little power. The main cameras serves for collecting intelligence, video recording as well as for operator operation if needed. The auxiliary camera primary serve for navigation, obstacle recognition and defense surveillance. The photonic elements are not effected by EMP.

Mobility[edit | edit source]
The bug possesses the ability to move on land, fly in the air and swim on water. It features 6 legs which allows it to move at a speed of up to 8.7 km/h on land; jump as high as 0.1m and swim(paddle) up to 0.05 km/h. The bug cannot dive but can be submerge up to 5m without damage. It has four wings tugged under a solar cell cover. It can fly at a speed of up to 25 km/h at an altitude of up to 300 m. The maximum altitude for safe 100% flight capability is up to 1680m. The "muscle" power is provided by an actuator fluid powered by electricity. The fluid serves as pneumatic muscle. It acts as a natural cooling fluid, too.
Body and wings[edit | edit source]
The body structure is made up of shape memory superelastic alloys (SMA) and energy-absorbing protein-based material (TSAM). These offer lightweight, breathability for cooling, stiffness, durability, impact and deformation resistance and absorption. It's tough enough to resist biological predator attacks and crashes.
The shell armor consist of up to 0.015 mm thick SMA backed by TSAM. The SMA of the shell is non-magnetic and has low radar signature. The heavy UMK bug is among the best armored bug design known. The shell has cerakote coating applied as long-term protection against UV rays, dust, dirt and water. The side and top antennas aren't covered by the SMA.
The wings have shape memory alloys which reduces vibration allowing them to remain more effective than naturally possible. The wing covers feature single photon solar cells with an efficiency of 99%. At full packed coverage the solar cell layer area becomes a pure black hue.

The bug features 3 separate batteries for a number of reasons: easy management, different integration purposes

- Primary operation battery, gel based high power
- for operating the ECM system and mobility
- is designed as part of the cooling system; serving as a heat sink

- for supporting the primary battery and providing capacity; mainly charging it
- is designed as part of the cooling system; serving as a heat spreader
Computer[edit | edit source]
The bug has a photonic computer system. It's not effected by EMP.
Jaw[edit | edit source]
The bug has specially designed jaws which can exert up to 1.34 N of biting force. This is used as defense against natural predators as well as a tool for sabotage. The blade edge is made of BC8 super-diamond with superior strength, hence, it won't break off after a number of uses like ordinary diamond. BC8's hardness and sharpness eases cutting performance significantly compared to most metal blades. It can cut any metal as long as they fit into the jaw.
Difference between UMK and ABH bug[edit | edit source]
Aside from size and form, imagine comparing the American cockroach to the oriental cockroach, the major difference between these two designs lies in their extra features.
- The UMK bug contains is specially designed pool tank in its adomen which can be used to convert its gel battery into a mini bomb. At a maximum of 510 J or ~0.12 g TNT it has the same destructive power as a small caliber explosive round. The empty casing weights at 0.2 the gel mass and amplifies the explosion blast by 2.5 times. It can be laid and disguised as a natural looking egg. The UMK bug is a pure breed for sabotage. The UMK bug can fly better than its natural blueprint but has limitation due to its weight.
- The Abh bug has additional antenna to serve as locator, hence, emphasize its secondary role of reconnaissance and espionage. It also carries a standard blackbox quantum entanglement communications and navigation orb. The Abh bug is also a much better flyer.
